We wanted to help you better understand tracking categories in Xero. So Matt McDowall from the Compliance team takes you through how to use Xero’s tracking categories for expenses.
Ever wanted to know more information about the different areas of your business in more detail?
Xero has the ability for you to allocate income and expenses to different categories. This could be by geographic location (such as Melbourne or Shepparton) and so if you wanted to know how much you spend on Tim Tams (staff amenities) in each office you could easily work this out. Categories are fully flexible, so it could be geography, type of product or service, division, job, or whatever you can use to find out more information about the profitability of the sections of your business.
